In the 2012 election cycle Congressman King was one of 10 House conservatives targeted by out-of-state and George Soros supported liberal interest groups. Steve defeated his Democratic opponent by 8 points, much to the surprise of the Washington political establishment and was one of the few bright spots for Republicans in the 2012 election cycle.
King grew up in a law enforcement family in Storm Lake, Iowa, and developed a strong sense of justice and the laws of government. After college he started King Construction in 1975 and built the business up from one bulldozer. He brings valuable knowledge to Congress as an agribusinessman and a small business owner for 28 years. While representing the people of Iowa, King has been committed to our founding principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, the rule of law, and defending the sanctity of life.
